This long awaited sequel to the popular golf comedy that propelled Adam Sandler to household name status, is filming. That’s right, decades later, it’s happening… Happy Gilmore 2 movie is in production.

Happy is coming back after far too long of a wait. Nevertheless, Happy Gilmore 2 is now filming in the New York / New Jersey area. Extras casting directors for the upcoming Adam Sandler sequel have announced a casting call in New Jersey.

Adam Sandler is coming back as Happy.

Major streamer, Netflix, announced the upcoming production with the following press release.

Adam Sandler Is Picking Up His Golf Club Again As Happy Gilmore – The 1996 Tour Championship winner returns to the golf course.

Folks that live in multiple areas of New Jersey are welcome to join the cast. Grant Wilfrey Casting of New York is seeking New Jersey locals who have the time to work on set as paid background actors.

Netflix had ordered the sequel to Happy Gilmore as part of their years long contract with Sandler. In addition, Adam Sandler has a $250 Million dollar deal with with Netflix and has produced many movies for the streaming service. Additionally, in May of 2024, Netflix announced that they would be moving forward with the highly anticipated Happy Gilmore sequel. Seems that, the network moved fast on this one as just a few months past that original announcement, Happy Gilmore 2 is in production and filming begins shortly in New Jersey.

Happy Gilmore 2 will see Adam Sandler reprise his role as the outrageous slacker turned golf pro.

All Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) has ever wanted is to be a professional hockey player – It’s been almost 30 years since we last saw Happy Gilmore, the long-driving hero who won in the Tour Championship in 1996. Now, we finally get to catch up with him in a new sequel. That’s right, Adam Sandler is returning to the golf green as Happy Gilmore, and he’s bringing his powerful slap shot with him. No word on any alligators.
